  • The Future of Scouting in the Utah National Parks Council
On May 8th, 2018, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that it would no longer charter Scout units after December 31, 2019. This has led to many questions about what Scouting will look like now and in 2020 in the Utah National Parks Council, which is made up predominantly of LDS units. Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions...
  • Introducing the 2018 Religious Award: Title of Liberty
This year, the camp religious award is focused on duty to God, duty to family, and duty to country. We encourage all Scouting units and youth/adult groups to incorporate the Title of Liberty Award and associated activities during your time at camp or activities.
  • Be Prepared... for Camp!
All adults accompanying a Scouting unit, who are present at any activity for 72 or more total hours, must be registered with the BSA.
  • Attend Little Philmont to Discuss Changes in Older Boy Programs and Best Practices
The Utah National Parks Council under the direction of priesthood leadership will conduct Little Philmont conferences for stake and ward leadership in 2018. We have heard from our stake presidents that the Little Philmont messages have been very helpful in improving their older-boy programs. These messages will continue to be important, especially with the changes in the older-boy program starting next year.

  • Work on your Eagle year-round by attending Merit Badge Adventures!
We've heard you loud and clear - provide more merit badge opportunities year round! Merit Badge Adventures is just that, a Friday through Saturday adventure at one of our Scout camps that focus on helping youth work on one or more Eagle required merit badges! Troops can now combine their monthly campout with merit badge work - no extra work for the adult leaders, and great opportunities for the youth.
