Friends of Scouting

Friends of Scouting provides some of the funds we need to teach Scouting principles that will result in a positive influence on character, citizenship, and personal fitness. The youth of today are America's future leaders. You can help shape America's future by investing in Scouting today.

Every year we have the opportunity to pledge our financial support to keep our camps open and our service centers operating. This is the essence of the Friends of Scouting campaign, raising money to help the Utah National Parks Council defray the actual cost of delivering and running the Scouting program. While every Scout pays the annual registration fee, it does little to sustain the local Scouting program. The operation of local camps such as Maple Dell, Thunder Ridge, Scofield Frontier Base and Jeremiah Johnson; the professional support staff; the service centers and the development of new programs all need to be financed locally at the Council level. It costs approximately $150 per year to provide a Scout the Scouting opportunities here in the Utah National Parks Council. Special events and fund raisers pay only a portion of the cost. Give these Scouts and volunteer Scouters your support by helping the Scouting program with your pledge.

There are few opportunities in life to really make a difference, but one of those is shaping the character of a boy. Your gift to Scouting helps guarantee their training and development as they prepare for making ethical life choices.

Scouting builds character, strengthens citizenship and improves fitness in our youth. Last year, for example, our Scouts spent 88,000 days and nights of "no-trace" camping, offered our communities over 500,000 Scout service hours, and gathered 127 tons of food for Utah's food banks.

Our council stands at the threshold of an exciting new era. Through your love, we will make a difference in the lives of our youth putting them on paths that lead to achieving their potential.
