AMERICAN LEGION EAGLE SCOUT OF THE YEAR ($10,000 National Scholarship), Due 1/15/2013: Eagle Scouts, ages 15-18, should apply for the American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year Scholarship. The deadline is quickly approaching:  January 15, 2013 (postmark). This is a $10,000 national scholarship. Please promote this widely--Eagles may apply in multiple years, but may only win once. Eagle scouts must be a son or grandson of a Legioneer to be eligible. Details about this award anf the application form is available online at:

EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT OF THE YEAR, Due 1/21/2013: Please nominate the best Eagle Scout Projects you have seen in our council during 2012 to compete for the council Eagle project of the year title! Last year we had over 2,400 Eagle projects in our council--Please help us identify the best of them! A boy may apply himself or be nominated by a scout leader, parent, or district. The application form is online at the following link:  The application and a copy of the boy's completed/signed Eagle Project Workbook must be submitted to Council Services at the Orem Scout Office by 4:30 pm on January 21, 2013. The Eagle Scout's board of review must have occurred in 2012 to be eligible. The winner will receive a certificate and a special device to wear on his Eagle Scout badge or square knot.
District advancement committee members siting on boards of review may always easily nominate projects throughout the year by simply checking a box on the statistics form that must be submitted with every Eagle packet that is submitted to the council. CONSERVATION PROJECT OF THE YEAR (Legacy Prize $2,000 Scholarship), Due 1/21/2013: Please nominate the best youth conservation projects you've seen in our council during 2012. These projects must have been completed in 2012 and nominations must be received in Council Services at the Orem Scout Office by 4:30 pm on January 21, 2013. These projects may be Eagle Scout projects, Hornaday Award projects, or other conservation projects (merit badge requirements, school projects, etc) conducted by a registered BSA youth in the Utah National Parks Council. We need the complete project workbook, Hornaday report, or another write up explaining all the details of the project in order to consider it for the award. This $2,000 scholarship (and a $1,000 prize for the runner up) may be used for college or future scouting activities (National Jamboree, NOAC, Philmont, World Jamboree, etc). Districts may also nominate Eagle projects for this award throughout the year by checking a box on the statistics form at this link:
NESA SCHOLARSHIPS (National Awards of $1,000 to $50,000), Due 12/31/2012: The National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) sponsors 150 annual scholarships (either merit or academically based) which range in value from $1,000 to $50,000. Eagle Scouts must graduate high school in 2013 to be eligible for academic scholarships (merit scholarships of $1,000-2,500 may be awarded to high school graduates or college students). A $50,000, four-year academic scholarship is awarded to an Eagle Scout planning to study a STEM related field in college. A $25,000 academic scholarship is available to an Eagle planning to study in the healthcare arena and willing to work in an underserved area following graduation. SONS OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION EAGLE SCOUT SCHOLARSHIP ($8,000 National Scholarship, $4,000 1st Runner Up, $2,000 2nd Runner Up), Due 12/31/2012: Eagle Scouts, ages 12-18, should apply for the scholarship/essay contest.
