Commissioner Service

Commissioners are district and council leaders who help Scout units succeed. They coach and consult with adult leaders at the ward/unit level to help them run successful program that accomplish the objectives of the organization.

They also oversee the annual unit-charter renewal plan so that each unit is chartered on-time with an optimum number of youth and adult members.

There are multiple types of commissioners including:

  • District Commissioner - part of the District Key-3
  • Assistant District Commissioners - normally a member of the stake presidency who oversee and mentor Unit Commissioners
  • Unit Commissioners - for LDS-sponsored units, these are members of the Stake Young Men and Primary presidencies, as well as others called by the stake - these commissioners focus on helping the units/wards to be successful
