Summer Camp Staff Minimum Requirements

All camp staff positions require individuals to become registered members of the Boy Scouts of America, have a current (within one year) medical examination, to obtain and wear the proper uniform as required, and be able to work the entire summer season with a minimum amount of time off.

Youth Staff

  • 14 years of age:
    • Paid Staff Member: Jeremiah Johnson 
    • Non-Paid Counselor in Training: Adventure Park, High Uintah, Maple Dell, Thunder Ridge,Tifie, or Scofield 
  • 15 years of age:
    • Paid Staff Member: Adventure Park, High Uintah, Jeremiah Johnson, Maple Dell, Thunder Ridge, Tifie, or Scofield. Able to lift up to 25 pounds and physically capable of performing required job duties.
    • Non-Paid Ranger in Training: Beaver or Entrada. Able to lift up to 25 pounds and physically capable of performing required job duties.
  • 16 years of age:
    • Paid Staff Member: Adventure Park, Beaver, Entrada, High Uintah, Jeremiah Johnson, Maple Dell, Thunder Ridge, Tifie, or Scofield as paid staff. Able to lift up to 25 pounds and physically capable of performing required job duties.

Adult Staff

  • 18 years of age and older: (Some positions have a minimum age requirement of 21) 
    • Able to lift up to 25 pounds and physically capable of performing required job duties.
    • Able to supervise younger staff.
    • Able to be on time and work in an independant environment.
    • Able to keep records, prepare reports, and give and recieve feedback.
    • Preferred knowledge or background for position that is being applied for.
    • Preferred previous experience as camp staff, either volunteer or paid.
    • Preferred a sense of ADVENTURE!

Other Required Forms and Information

Annual Health and Medical Record

Every staff member that works at any BSA property will need to have on file a completed and current medical form. The completion of this form requires the following:

  • Part A and B filled out completely and honestly filled out by the individual, or in the case of staff members under the age of 18, by the staff member's parent.
  • Part C completed and signed by a qualified medical professional. Please note only the BSA Medical Form will be accepted. No physical forms from school sports or other organizations will qualify. Nor can these forms be attached to a BSA Medical form.

The height and weight requires stated on the form must be adhered to. The work environment at our camps and high adventure bases can be very physically strenuous. Please read the details of the form for more information.

Form W-4: Employee's Withholding Allowance Certificate

This form will need to be filled by all individuals offered a paid staff position. Parents of youth staff should consult a tax professional if they have questions on how their son or daughter's earning should be taken into account.

Form I-9: Employment Eligibility Verification

The purpose of this form is to document that each new employee is authorized to work in the United States. This form needs to be filled out by all individuals offered a paid staff position. This form requires that two forms of identification be presented with the completed form. One form of id verifies legal status of the individual in the United States and the other confirms the individual's identity.
