Online Registration Walk-through

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: What is a Key-3 Member?

A: The Unit Key-3 consists of the COR (member of the bishopric over Scouting), the Committee Chair, and the Scoutmaster for the Troop and the Cubmaster for the Pack.

Q: I'm a COR and don't see some positions in the drop-down list to assign to a leader. Why?

A: Unit Key 3 positions (COR, Committee Chair, and Cubmaster/Scoutmaster) can only be held by one person at a time. If these positions are not showing in the drop-down list, register the new leader as a Committee Member then send an email to help@utahscouts.org with the new leader's following information:

  • First and last name
  • Correct position
  • Unit type (Pack or Troop) and number

Q: What about Youth Protection Training? Do we need to notify the Scout office when a leader has taken it? Does it need to be taken before they register?

A: The online registration and the Youth Protection Training are all done through My.Scouting.org, so it should all sync together. If it doesn't, any Key-3 Member may record it through the Training Manager at My.Scouting.org. The new leader cannot be registered until Youth Protection Training is taken and current.

Q: How do I transfer boys from another unit?

A: This cannot be done through My.Scouting at this time. In the near future, this feature will be available though Scoutbook. For the time being, please send a list of the boys who need to be transferred to help@utahscouts.org with approval from any member of the Bishopric. This list must contain the boys' following information:

  • Full name
  • Full birthday
  • Full address
  • Parent's email and phone number

Q: Will the Unit Key 3 be notified through email when a new leader or boy submits an online application?

A: The Unit Key 3 will receive a summary email every Tuesday and Friday if there are any actions that need to be taken in the Invitation or Application Manager.

Q: How do I change a leader's position?

A: This cannot be done through My.Scouting at this time. In the near future, this feature will be available through Scoutbook. For the time being, please send a request to help@utahscouts.org with the leader's following information:

  • First and last name
  • Correct position
  • Unit type (Pack or Troop) and number

Q: I'm a Key-3 Member and don't see the button to approve an adult. What do I do?

A: The only Key-3 Member who has rights to approve an adult is the COR. Follow up with the COR and ask him to login and accept that new leader's application. Any Key-3 Member is able to approve a new youth's application.

Q: My COR is extremely busy and doesn't have time to send out invitations. How can I help?

A: Any Key-3 Member is able to send invitations to new leaders or scouts. The only thing that's required of the COR is to approve new leaders' applications.
