TODAY'S TOP STORY Volunteers Needed for Freedom Festival |
|||
The America's Freedom Festival in Provo is in urgent need of volunteers to help at a new event for this year's festival. The Ellis Island in the Park event, running July 3-5, will allow individuals to imagine becoming an immigrant at Ellis Island while being guided through ten milestones of freedom in a field of flags. With food, stage entertainment, ancestry research and much more - we think this will be a great experience for all. The Utah National Parks Council is sponsoring this event and is looking for Scouting units to assist in the following areas: Field Setup/Takedown: We need approximately 75 people to come and help set up a field of flags (over 300!) at the SCERA park on the morning of July 2 and to take down the flags on Saturday (July 5) afternoon. Security: We need older youth and leaders (Varsity, Venturing and Explorer units) to provide security at the site overnight. Volunteers would work shifts throughout the nights to watch over the park and the field of flags. We need to cover shifts starting on the evenings of July 2, 3, and 4th. If you are interested in volunteering at this event, please contact John Gailey at (801) 437-6233 or via e-mail at jgailey@utahscouts.org |
