100th Female Eagle Scout Earns Prestigious Rank!

Alpine, Utah – Crossroads of the West Council, Scouting America, proudly announces a historic milestone as it celebrates the awarding of its 100th Eagle Scout rank to a youth female member since the national organization opened Eagle Scout advancement opportunities to young women in 2019. This achievement reflects both the hard work and dedication of the Scouts and the transformative opportunities Scouting continues to provide for all youth.

The 100th Female Eagle Scout recipient, Elsie H. from Troop 10 in Alpine, led her troop to build and install a Little Free Library at Creek Side Park as part of her Eagle Scout project. This initiative has provided a lasting resource for the local community, promoting literacy and the love of reading.

“This is a proud moment for our council and a testament to the power of Scouting to inspire service and leadership in youth,” said Ken Jeppesen, Council President. “Our young women have demonstrated tremendous resilience, passion, and a commitment to serving their communities, and we are honored to celebrate their achievements as Eagle Scouts.”

The prestigious Eagle Scout rank is a symbol of leadership, commitment, and service to community, achieved by only a small percentage of Scouts nationwide. Reaching this milestone speaks volumes about the dedication and determination of young women in the Crossroads of the West Council and highlights the council’s commitment to fostering an inclusive Scouting experience for all youth.

Since opening the path to Eagle rank to young women, Scouting America has seen growing interest and engagement from young women across the nation. Eagle Scout projects led by young women in Crossroads of the West Council have included a wide range of community-focused initiatives, from environmental conservation to improving local parks and schools, showcasing their leadership and dedication to making a positive impact.

As Crossroads of the West Council celebrates this milestone, it reaffirms its mission to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
