Council Scholarships and Camperships

Training Scholarship

We are very blessed to have scholarship opportunities for those individuals who need assistance to take the training you need to make Scouting better in your sphere of influence. These scholarships are generously donated from the Boyd Ivie Endowment and the Council Wood Badge Alumni Association. 

  • Woodbadge and NYLT Scholarships are $75.  Akelas Council Scholarships are $50. 
  • All applicants must first register for an Akela's Council, Wood Badge or NYLT course of their choice and pay the initial nonrefundable deposit.
  • All applicants must be a registered Scout or Scouter with the Crossroads of the West Council.
  • All adult applicants must have a current Youth Protection Training.
  • All scholarship applications will go through a quarterly review process.
  • Registrations may be transferred one time to another course if the participant is unable to attend the first course registered for.

Champ Scholarship

Frederick P. Champ was a Scout and Scouter for 66 years; President of the Cache Valley Council; recipient of Silver Beaver and Silver Antelope Awards; National Council Representative; President of Cache Valley Banking Co; President of Utah Mortgage Loan Corporation; and President of the Board of Trustees, Utah State University.

Eligible applicants are currently registered with the Crossroads of the West Council, Scouting America who have graduated from high school or will graduate in the coming year. Scholarships are granted to those enrolling full-time at Utah State University or Brigham Young University.

Deadline for submission is December 31 each year.

Ross Lawrence "Lawry" Hunsaker Campership

In honor of Ross Lawrence “Lawry” Hunsaker, the Vanguard International Scouting Association established an annual campership to allow five Latter-day Saint Cub Scouts to attend day camp at Camp Tracy who otherwise would not be able to attend due to financial hardship.
