Council Scholarships and Camperships
Training Scholarship
We are fortunate to offer scholarships to individuals who need assistance in completing essential training to enhance Scouting within their sphere of influence. These scholarships are generously funded by the Boyd Ivie Endowment and the Council Wood Badge Alumni Association.
Scholarship Amounts:
- Wood Badge and NYLT: $75
- Akela's Council: $50
Eligibility & Application Process:
- Applicants must first register for the Akela’s Council, Wood Badge, or NYLT course of their choice and pay the nonrefundable deposit.
- All applicants must be registered Scouts or Scouters with the Crossroads of the West Council.
- Adult applicants must have current Youth Protection Training.
- Scholarship applications are reviewed quarterly.
- Registrations can be transferred once to a different course if the participant is unable to attend their originally scheduled course.

Champ Scholarship
Named in honor of Frederick P. Champ, a dedicated Scout and Scouter for 66 years, this scholarship supports young Scouts pursuing higher education. Mr. Champ served as President of the Cache Valley Council, was a recipient of the Silver Beaver and Silver Antelope Awards, a National Council Representative, and held leadership roles in both Cache Valley Banking Co. and Utah State University.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants must be currently registered with the Crossroads of the West Council, Scouting America.
- Applicants must have graduated from high school or be graduating in the current academic year.
- Scholarships are awarded to those enrolling full-time at Utah State University or Brigham Young University.
Application Deadline: December 31 each year

Ross Lawrence "Lawry" Hunsaker Campership
In honor of Ross Lawrence "Lawry" Hunsaker, the Vanguard International Scouting Association offers an annual campership to help five Latter-day Saint Cub Scouts attend day camp at Camp Tracy. This campership is designed for Scouts who would otherwise be unable to participate due to financial hardship.
