American Red Cross Trainings
The council offers a variety of first aid training courses throughout the year.
Basic First Aid/CPR/AED: Would you know what to do in a cardiac, breathing or first aid emergency? The right answer could help you save a life. With an emphasis on hands-on learning, our First Aid/CPR/AED courses give you the skills to save a life. First Aid, CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator) training is universally recognized for its effectiveness. It can help ensure that everyone from the Scout working on a First Aid merit badge to a Scouter leading a unit on a high-adventure trek is fully prepared. Find the next available courses below. Wilderness First Aid (WFA): is the assessment of and treatment given to an ill or injured person in a remote environment where definitive care by a physician and/or rapid transport is not readily available. During the 16-hour course, participants will learn how to assess, treat, and (when possible) contain emergencies within the scope of their training. Current certification in an adult CPR course and completion of AED training are prerequisites.(Basic First Aid) Bring certification card to class. Participants must be at least 14 years old or a registered Venturer. This is a 2 day course, participants must attend both days. Register for the next available course below.
CPRO: Professional Rescuers First Aid CPR/AED Designed to train professional-level rescuers to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants until more advanced medical personnel take over. Required training for Lifeguards, and High Adventure Trek guides. A link for the online portion will be emailed prior to class. Must be completed before class. Please bring completion certificate to class. A test at the conclusion of class is required.
CPR Instructor Course: Training meets OSHA Guidelines for First Aid Programs and combines lecture, interactive video demonstrations featuring emergency scenarios that are likely to occur in a variety of environments and hands-on training to teach participants lifesaving skills. Current certification in an adult CPR course and completion of AED training are prerequisites.(Basic First Aid) Bring certification card to class. First Aid: Participants learn to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies, such as burns, cuts and scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck and back injuries, and heat and cold emergencies.

CPR Adult: Participants learn how to perform CPR and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults

CPR Child and Infant: Participants learn how to prevent, recognize and respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies in infants and children under 12

AED: Participants learn how to use automatic external defibrillators
Length of class will vary dependent on selection of topics. 2 year certification; classroom option ** Additional Injury control topics available for workplaces. Register for the course below.
The American Red Cross (ARC) and Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI) First Aid, CPR, AED and WFA courses meet the BSA training requirements.
